1) Can you tell us a little about your company? What is new or what services do you have
right now and how did you get started in this industry?

Clear Copywriting is a freelance copywriting service based in Perth, Western Australia, providing written content for websites as well as all types of marketing and advertising. Through my love of creative writing, I started freelance copywriting in 2004 and launched clearcopywriting.com in June 2008.

2) From your experience, what type of customers search for your services? Who is your ideal
/ typical customer?

I wouldn’t say there is a typical customer and every job is different. Though for me an ‘ideal’ customer is anyone who understands the value of quality business copy and is focused on achieving it.

3) What do you love the most about your business? What is the best part of your type of
work?

I love the creativity, that in addition to being my own boss. I’m quite a perfectionist and I love getting positive feedback from a client when I’ve finished an assignment.

5) How do you see the copywriting industry in Australia? What are your views about where the industry is heading in the next few years?

In this tough economic climate, some businesses seem to be doing more of their copywriting ‘in-house’ in an attempt to save money, while other businesses appear to be using copywriters more as part of their marketing strategy.

In the next few years, I see the role of the copywriter becoming more and more critical. As market competition increases, successful businesses will understand the importance of using clear and persuasive communication to sell their product or service.

6) Can you describe a normal day in your life as a copywriter?

There are no ‘normal’ days. Each client and each job is different, that’s why I enjoy it.

7) Can you share your top tips to find a GOOD copywriter? What do you need to look for?

Head straight to clearcopywriting.com! Seriously though, I would look for a copywriter who is happy to show you examples of their work. From this you should be able to decide if the style and quality of their work is what you’re after.

Also, I would look for a copywriter who is approachable, down to earth and answers their calls and emails. If you have any questions or requests, your copywriter should be at hand to help.
